Owners mandating BIM is nothing new. However, when an expert owner is a city who understands the benefits of implementing BIM across their projects and across their internal teams ranging from engineering to water treatment, it’s a whole new world. This presentation will cover the justifications for the approach, a comprehensive study of existing workflows and the process and workflows that are being implemented on over $700 million of projects by Ville de Quebec. How the change process was handled will also be discussed as the eventual goal of the project is for Ville de Quebec to be completely self-sufficient in their whole lifecycle, integrated BIM approach.
Mr. Murat holds the position of BIM/VDC Technical Director at Virtual Construction and Technology BIM One, as well as a Master's degree in Architecture. He is personally involved in several BIM corporate deployment projects, from public organizations as well as architectural firms and real estate developers. His experience and expertise, acquired through many major projects in Quebec while working at Provencher Roy and BIM One, are widely recognized, thanks to a solid mastery of not just BIM technologies, but an excellent understanding of the construction industry and the human element of implementing change. His field of expertise covers the entire life cycle of the building, from design to operation and maintenance. He is actively involved in local college and university education. A frequent guest speaker in Quebec and internationally, he has also organized more than 30 conferences at Quebec's BIM Group, which he co-founded and chaired from 2011 to 2017.
