Dear Members and Partners,
Today, we want to share an important development within our organization that marks a significant milestone in our journey. After 12 years of providing service as our Executive Director, our friend Gerry Lattmann has decided to refocus his career exclusively on his original passion of filmmaking.
First and foremost, we want to express our deep gratitude to Gerry for his unwavering commitment, exceptional leadership, and unparalleled accessibility throughout the years. As Gerry works with the team on this transition, it is important to reflect on the indelible impact Gerry has made first with CanBIM and then Building Transformations. Gerry's leadership to help deliver outstanding events and building the membership community have profoundly transformed our organization. As a result of his hard work and dedication, we have achieved significant milestones, supported academic growth, inspired industry teams, and united some of the most innovative organizations in the industry to transform the way we build. We are deeply grateful for his contributions and wish him every success in his future endeavors.
While this transition may come as a surprise to some, Gerry has hinted that he may want to focus on his production work over the last couple of years. Gerry has come to this difficult decision thoughtfully and we fully support his aspirations for the future. Change is an inevitable part of growth, and we see this as an opportunity to not only honor Gerry’s legacy, but also to usher in a new chapter of progress for Building Transformations. We appreciate how important Gerry has been to building our community and want to give you the opportunity to thank him directly! We will be hosting a dinner in honor of Gerry and to release the 2024 Innovation Spotlight Annual Publication. Please join us in Toronto March 7! (Event details here).
For the immediate future, our CEO Thomas Strong and the Board of Directors will maintain continuity across all of our volunteer lead programs and operations. Our priority is to ensure we continue to deliver great experiences for our community of members, our partners, and stakeholders. We will be recruiting new talent and carefully considering how to best structure our team over the upcoming months. Although Gerry has been generous enough to provide ample notice, you are welcome to contact Thomas or the Board as needed through this transition period.
We are looking forward to connecting with you at our 2023/2024 Annual General Meeting on Feb 6th where we will be announcing more details about our plans for 2024!
Your support has been instrumental in our success, and we are grateful. We are looking forward to your continued partnership as we embark on this exciting new chapter for Building Transformations. Thank you for being an integral part of our community.
Sincerely,
Pietro Ferrari
