The construction industry has a tendency to adopt multiple tools in 'specialist' areas, which on-site operatives are supposed to learn and use. This tends to be overwhelming and therefore user adoption is understandably low. This limits the value and reason why technology is implemented in the first place. Other reasons for poor adoption are, too many tools or apps that overlap in similar processes, disconnected and siloed information that is complex to use by non-specialized end users, licensing challenges which restrict who has access, and device performance due data size. Poor adoption decreases the inherent value of tools and worse case it provides incomplete data which creates risk throughout the entire lifecycle of the project.
That’s why it’s important to bring on a tool that is easy to use, agnostic by role or skillset and will allow for organizations to consolidate the number of applications through a more robust interconnected tool. The Dalux platform is built with the idea that BIM is for Everyone in the project lifecycle. Taking concepts that if made simple enough, even the most technology resistant user can pick up the platform and understand how to use it in a matter of moments.
Typically BIM is used as a complementary reference, or guide, or VR/AR tool with the real world. It is used by professionals or sits in a disconnected silo for viewing when needed or an additional feature that needs to be added on. Dalux has changed the mindset of how we interact with BIM, by moving BIM from a complimentary to primary tool, where everything flows in and out of a location from the model in a single platform. The platform is permission based, which means you are only seeing relevant information that’s based on your role, this ensures it’s easy to understand and reduces data overload for the end users. Dalux has tools that help at every stage of the building lifecycle so that there is a complete history of every decision that was made or changes that occurred during Design, Construction and Building Operations which increases the overall accountability for everyone involved. We help close the gap between site and offsite teams by bringing BIM, Augmented Reality and other information onto mobile devices for the site teams and with our Reality Capture tools such as SiteWalk, Point Cloud capabilities and 360° photo capturing brings site progress and monitoring back to the office. Dalux also bridges the gap between construction teams and owners by bringing BIM into the Handover stage right through into a Facility Management platform that is used for storing asset information, operation & maintenance and a complete helpdesk solution.
