Robert Alzuarde is an Innovation Manager with a specialization in VDC and BIM processes implementation at Pomerleau. With a personal interest in BIM and Data Analytics, his role includes defining Innovation goals and workflows, improving collaboration procedures between project stakeholder, and ensuring that valuable deliverables are aligned with project needs and objectives.
Robert graduated from the first BIM postgraduate program offered by George Brown College in 2015, followed by postgraduate studies in Construction Management and an MBA in Innovation in 2021. Over the years, he has gained experience managing a team of over 15 VDC Specialists and multidisciplinary BIM projects across various sectors, including institutional, commercial, residential, and industrial facilities.
Currently, Robert also serves as a part-time professor for the School of Architectural Technology at Sheridan College, where he teaches how to leverage digital drafting and BIM best practices in the AEC industry.
During his career in commercial construction, Ethan Lalonde has always preferred the job site to the office, believing that for BIM to be taken advantage of to the fullest, an understanding needs to be fostered between those developing it and those utilizing it. By integrating into the daily life of each of his projects and interfacing directly with the construction teams he gained an in-depth knowledge of the project life-cycle and the methods of installation that make designs a reality. In turn, he would work with the forepersons to educate them on BIM's capabilities and to develop an optimized BIM program that was integrated into the construction process from the ground up that served to reduce material, field labour and information management requirements.
As Plan Group's Senior Mechanical Designer, Ethan brings his knowledge of the trades and understanding of the client's needs in an advisory role, educating Junior Designers and working with Operations to develop a standardized BIM / Construction Process that promotes synergy between the designers and the field. As a BIM Project Team Lead, he utilizes his knowledge of project life-cycles to integrate the BIM process into the project schedule, manage the design team, and facilitate multi-disciplinary coordination.
Since working in Construction at the age of 18, Tang has always had a penchant for construction related technology. His curiosity and passion has enabled him to stay at the forefront of innovations, starting off as a 3D structural coordinator back in 2007, when the word “BIM” was still years away from being mainstream in the industry. Since then, he has worked across 3 provinces as a project coordinator, project manager, BIM VDC manager and is now the Innovation Manager for Magil Construction. Having led the implementation of Procore within the company back 2017, today he is now responsible for the R&D and implementation of new technologies to improve efficiency, work smarter and to reduce waste.
Laura-Lee has dedicated her entire career to the strategic development of BIM in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry. After graduating from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Architectural Science in 2005, Laura-Lee gained experience as a mechanical designer before stepping into broader corporate and industry roles as a BIM leader. After more than a decade completely dedicating herself to developing and implementing BIM standards, Laura-Lee is as passionate about data management as she is about the creativity and innovation intrinsic to managing multi-discipline models. Laura-Lee has served as a member of CanBIM for more than five years, sitting on the CanBIM Designers Committee for the past two years. Also an active member of the BIM community in Toronto, Laura-Lee has spoken at local and international events, guiding industry colleagues as they seek out effective methodologies to leverage new technologies. As an Autodesk certified professional in Revit MEP Mechanical, Revit MEP Electrical, and Revit Architecture, Laura-Lee combines practical project experience with big picture thinking, extending her unique passion for the growth and application of BIM technologies across Canada.
