CanBIM Educational certification is for educational institutions and industry training providers who wish to certify their BIM/VDC related programs or courses to recognized industry-driven learning outcomes. CanBIM Educational certification recognizes organizations that are delivering BIM/VDC curriculum that gives students the skills and knowledge required by industry.

Students and learners taking CanBIM-certified programs and courses develop knowledge and skills that are transferable, relevant, and valuable to employers that are utilizing digital technologies, workflows, and processes.
CanBIM Educational certification is based on and assessed against the CanBIM Foundations Levels. The Foundations levels benchmark educational learning outcomes for courses and programs in BIM theory, software and management. The following are the CanBIM Foundations Levels.

CanBIM Educational Certification is offered through the Standard application process or through the Integrated Pathway to Certification (IPC) process.
Educational institutions and industry training providers that wish to certify a program or course can complete and submit a standard application for consideration. Upon certification approval, student graduates from the program or course can apply for CanBIM Foundations Certification and receive a designation from CanBIM. The educational institutions and training providers cover all costs associated with certifying the program or course, and all associated Foundation Certification fees, to certify the students, are covered by the students.
Educational institutions and industry training providers that wish to certify a program or course and offer their graduates automatic CanBIM certification upon completion of the program or course can complete and submit a standard application for consideration. Upon certification approval, CanBIM will request a list of graduates prior to the program or course completion and will prepare certification packages for each student. CanBIM will mail certification packages to the educational institution or training provider. The educational institutions and training providers cover all costs associated with certifying the program or course, as well as all associated Foundation Certification fees to certify the students. CanBIM offers one single application fee for IPC applications that covers all students. Foundations Certification fees are charged on per student basis.
Every program or course certification is valid for two years. Prior to the expiry of the certification period, the educational institution or training provider must submit a renewal application. Once the application is submitted an invoice will be issued for renewal, upon successful review of the application and receipt of payment, the program or course will be renewed for two years.
