Biographie

Brandon Searle, P. Eng. is the Innovation Director for the Off-site Construction Research Centre (OCRC) at the University of New Brunswick. Born in Moncton, N.B., he completed a BScE in civil engineering and a diploma in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of New Brunswick Before joining UNB, Brandon worked on capital projects from both the owner and contractor side followed by a four-year position with WSP where he was an asset management consultant. While with WSP, he worked toward an M.Eng. focusing on level of service in infrastructure management and completed a broad collection of courses in economics, project management, business, finance and engineering. Brandon serves as the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) Western NB Section Past-Chair, CSCE Atlantic Region Treasurer and sits on the Canadian Network of Asset Managers (CNAM) Board of Directors.

Enda McDonagh, Principal, Montgomery Sisam Architects Inc. Dip. Arch. Tech., Passive House Consultant  Enda McDonagh is a Principal at Toronto-based practice Montgomery Sisam. Enda came to Montgomery Sisam fourteen years ago with an impressive pedigree of work overseas. He has since helped guide a number award-winning projects in mental health, formative education, higher education and transitional housing. He is committed in his practice to deliver architecture that performs at the highest standards – functionally, technically, and environmentally. Enda is currently managing Phase 2 of the City of Toronto’s pioneering modular supportive housing projects and is a key facilitator in blending high quality design and advanced building science with the latest construction techniques to create more resilient, responsive homes for vulnerable Ontarians. Enda is a certified Passive House Consultant.

Patrick Crabbe

Director, Mass Timber - Bird Construction

Patrick Crabbe is the Director of Mass Timber at Bird Construction, a publicly traded commercial, residential and industrial conglomerate, recognized as one of the top 3 General Contractors in Canada. With a dedicated career in developing markets for high-value structural wood products and collaborating with industry stakeholders, Patrick possesses a comprehensive understanding of construction contract methods and supply chain solutions for successfully executing large and complex mass timber building programs.

In addition to his role at Bird Construction, Patrick is also the leader of a $220 million Mass Timber Manufacturing start-up, known as the Mass Timber Company (MTC). Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, MTC will be one of the worlds most advanced, sawmill-integrated, glulam and CLT manufacturers with an annual capacity of 50,000m3 of production per year ~ 2.5 million ft2 of incremental construction capacity. 

Laurie Robert

Vice President, Sales and Business Development - Fero International

Lead a team of innovative and experienced sales and estimating people at NRB who are focused on company growth and building up the off-site/modular construction industry. Directly involved in business development strategies and major projects. Have been involved in the industry Trade Association (MBI) off and on since 1997 as Board Member, Committee Chair(s), and Past President with a focus on helping move the industry forward and expand it's market share of commercial construction. Trustee of the Modular Building Institute Canadian Educational Foundation that supports industry research and educational scholarships. Board Member of the Off-Site Construction Council of the National Institute of Building Sciences.

August Nazareth

August Nazareth is a circular economist and seasoned expert with over 10 years of experience in the built environment/AECO sector across the U.S. and UK. Passionate about the circular economy, Nazareth serves as the Global Director of Built Environment, Americas at BSI Group in New York City.   Nazareth has honed her expertise in accelerating the circular economy by driving digitally transformative practices like AI, ML, digital twins, BIM, BIM2FM, IoT, AI mapped to stakeholder initiatives, their existing process and inter-generational skillsets for better outcomes. She is dedicated to fostering net-zero buildings, resilient infrastructure, and smart cities, including pre-fabrication, modularity, design for disassembly, and offsite construction to reduce the industry's environmental impact, and the future where circular design for building products, data transparency, and re-use of materials becomes the norm.
