This presentation will demonstrate some of the geospatial innovation underway at the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation. It will provide an overview of the role of the organization, the rapidly changing environment in which it operates, and present some of the innovative work its various teams are working on, with the goal to foster interest within the BIM community.
Ms. Sharpe began her career in one of Canada's pioneering mapping and surveying companies, which was acquired by MacDonald Dettwiler. There she held a position as Ottawa Manager of the Mapping and Orthophoto Divisions. With public service as a key ambition, Ms. Sharpe moved on to Public Works and Government Services Canada as a Geomatics Project Manager, and the head of the development of a geomatics service delivery program for the department. She continued to take on leadership positions in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where she spent 12 years working in environment, science and technology policy and program delivery; during this time she also led a number of strategic planning initiatives at senior levels in the department. She joined Natural Resources Canada 3 years ago, returning to her roots in geomatics and now leading the Federal Geospatial Platform. In this role, she leads a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of an on-line geospatial data sharing organization which brings together the Government's valuable geospatial data assets through partnership, polices, and standards. Ms. Sharpe has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph, with specialization in geographic information and resource management.
