Autodesk Research has been exploring the integration of IoT data with BIM since 2010 through Project Dasher. In recent years Dasher has been rebuilt to make use of the Forge platform: in this session we’ll take a look at a few projects that showcase the possibilities for contextualizing sensor data in 3D, and how this large-scale data capture will eventually feed performance-based generative design systems.
Kean Walmsley works for Autodesk Research in Switzerland. He’s just hitting his 25th anniversary with the company and has held a variety of technical and management-related roles in various countries. His main areas of research relate to building Digital Twins using Autodesk’s Forge platform – essentially exploring the integration of IoT data with BIM – and using Generative Design to solve problems in the AEC industry.
