Dr. Joel Moody was appointed as Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer effective September 15, 2021. Prior to this appointment, Joel was Chief Public Safety Officer and Senior Director Analytics of the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) and has over seventeen years’ experience working in various labour organizations throughout the province of Ontario. Dr. Moody leads the Prevention Division and is responsible for the oversight of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Prevention System. He provides advice to the Minister on the prevention of workplace injuries and occupational diseases and on any proposed changes to the funding and delivery of services for the prevention of workplace injuries and occupational diseases. He works with the WSIB and the Health and Safety Associations (HSAs) and related stakeholders to advance the transformation of the occupational health and safety system to an evidence-based and outcome focused model to eliminate workplace injuries, fatalities, and illnesses in Ontario. Throughout his career, Dr. Moody has championed innovative approaches to harm reduction and regulatory oversight. He is well known throughout the health and safety sector for his ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, as well as his passion for worker health and safety. equity, diversity, and inclusion are also central to his philosophy and leadership. Dr. Moody holds an Executive Education Certification in Strategic Management of Regulator and Enforcement Agencies Program from Harvard University, a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and an Advanced Certificate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from George Washington University, a Master of Public Health (M.P.H) International Health/Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Civil/Environmental Engineering from Duke University.

Since joining the company in 2018, Steve has been instrumental in developing and implementing innovative safety programs and initiatives that have distinguished EllisDon as an industry leader. Recognized as a highly influential, and results-driven executive, Steve has an exceptional track record of success in assessing, developing, implementing, and measuring health, safety, and environmental management systems. In 2021 Steve was awarded the Roy A. Phinnemore Award presented by the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association which recognizes individuals who have diligently served the cause of construction health and safety through services, contributions, inventions, procedures. Steve also currently sits as the Chair of the Prevention Council of Ontario.

Erin has been active in health & safety for 27 years. With a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in forensics, she has worked very hard to prevent injuries, occupational diseases and fatalities in the workplace. She also has a post graduate certificate in Workplace Mental Health Leadership from Queens University. Ms Oliver joined Modern Niagara in 2015. In her current role, Ms. Oliver manages the company’s national health & safety program that ensures all employees work in a secure environment. Her roll also includes mental health & psychological safety, and sustainability. Prior to joining Modern Niagara, Ms. Oliver was the owner of a consulting firm for 21 years. The firm provided forensic reconstruction and investigation for catastrophic and fatal workplace accidents as well has provided services to improve construction workplace prevention strategies. Since 2018 Ms. Oliver has been a member of the the Prevention Council of Ontario with a mandate to make Ontario Safer and was the Chairwoman of the Council until her term ended in 2022. A past president of the Ontario Kinesiology Association and currently registered with the Ontario College of Kinesiologists, Ms. Oliver continues to advocate vigorously for safer work environments and healthier employees. In 2011, she was given the “President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement” from the Ontario Kinesiology Association in recognition of her tireless efforts on behalf of workers throughout the Province including leading the team that saw regulation of Kinesiology into Ontario legislation. Ms. Oliver has been a Canadian Registered Safety Professional since 2000. In 2020 Ms Oliver was awarded the 2019 Recognition Award from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals. Erin was honoured with the Avetta award for Canada’s Safety Leader of the Year from Key Media and Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine in the same year. The Institute for Work & Health has named Ms. Oliver an Educational Influential in both Kinesiology and Health and Safety, regularly calling on her to participate and contribute to research and systemic reviews. Erin was invited to be a moderator at the 2020 World Congress on Safety and Health which will occur hosted by Canada virtually in September 2021. She has been invited to numerous speaking and lecturing events around the world including Paris France in 2015 at the Women’s Congress with the topic of Women Leaders in diversity resistant careers.
