We were thrilled and honored to receive the 2023 asset lifecycle management Award, and equally humbled by the recognition of the Best in innovation trophy that same year. These accolades reflect the hard work behind our ongoing holistic organizational and digital transformation—an evolution which will shape Montreal’s Olympic installations for decades to come. This transformation bridges tradition and innovation, ensuring our rich history thrives in a sustainable future.
With this vision in mind, we approached the design of the 2024 Innovation Spotlight Awards trophy in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes. My colleagues Victoria Arce and Christina Pagé led the concept design, while Walid Anane from Dassault guided materialization and adjustments, supported by Frédéric Doire. Together, we crafted a trophy rooted in the symbolic gesture of passing the torch—representing the transfer of knowledge and responsibility between generations.
Inspired by the approaching 50th anniversary since Montreal’s 1976 Olympic games, the trophy reflects the continuous cycle of progress in the building and infrastructures industry, as we are looking forward to the next 50 years. The concept is also celebrating the Innovation Spotlight Awards’ 10th anniversary, another golden opportunity to reflect on both heritage and future.
Walid played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life, using his prior experience in trophy design to automate some of the design and streamline the process. Early 3D models enabled rapid renderings and machining toolpath development, while manufacturing techniques such as CNC routing, 3D pointing, and water jet cutting ensured precision. By blending design and production seamlessly, we controlled costs and minimized challenges.
The result is a striking, dynamic trophy that honors the past while pushing the boundaries of design and technology. This collaboration celebrates today’s innovators and reinforces the importance of growth, collaboration, and the stewardship of tradition as we look toward the future.
