Building Sustainable Futures:
The intersection of Technology, Strategy & People Meet.
As we move into 2023, we face numerous challenges as an industry and a society; geopolitical and economic instability due to climate change and the aftermath of the pandemic, an insatiable demand for infrastructure and housing, and a diminishing skilled workforce to name a few. As an organization, we are responding to these challenges. We have built a platform for North America's top leaders to meet and we are creating events to bring together government, industry research, and technology. Our programs bridge solutions across all stakeholders, sectors, and the wider building industry innovation ecosystem.
This year’s publication focuses on the tools and processes that help achieve our strategic business goals, align expectations across project stakeholders, and build the next generation of builders. We explore this through a collection of perspectives from decision-makers who are managing strategies to find the right technology for their business and create more sustainable operations.
To improve project execution, we must address challenges from the start and avoid constant firefighting. We believe in the importance of having a strong team dynamic in addition to technology. We use technology to create better collaboration between people, such as digital project delivery processes, advanced work packaging, and alignment of project data structure.
Our members are seizing the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation. Examples in this year’s publication include using AI to inspect infrastructure assets, connecting modelling and design directly to the manufacturing process, and deploying an array of job site sensors to measure and monitor safety, energy consumption, and production efficiency.
We believe that technologies will improve customer outcomes and create more efficiencies in operations. As an industry, we are shifting from “services to products”; from “fragmentation to integration”. This is demonstrated through the massive increase of interest in the “design for manufacturing” approach, mass timber platforms, high-performance buildings, and net zero.
We hope that by sharing these examples, we can help the industry to benchmark innovation, set strategic goals, inform their core strategies, and build a culture of innovation. Building Transformations is excited to help improve customer outcomes, create efficiencies in operations, and ultimately deliver better results.
