As an Electrical Designer you:
- Assist the Project Manager to co-ordinate the work.
- Prepare detailed drawings, layouts and working plans as required based on verbal instructions, rough notes, engineering drawings and rough sketches to ensure the best installation outcome
- Develop installation drawings for a wide range of electrical systems such as power distribution systems and grounding, lighting and lighting control systems, fire alarm and security systems, building automation systems, structured cabling, alternative energy, slab and surface installations, riser drawings, duct banks
- Interact and collaborate with the project team to develop drawings efficiently and accurately while maintaining any time and schedule constraints
- Develop drawings showing the necessary details and assemblies of a wide variety of electrical equipment with details such as dimensions, fastening methods, slab coordinates and other required information.
- Navigate through and interpret structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings for various occupancy types and spaces.
- Perform technical calculations including and not limited to voltage drop, conduit fill,
- Review design drawings and provide feedback to ensure requirements are met.
- Host and attend coordination meetings and support team decisions and strategies.
- Understand and comply with the project schedule to submit deliverables and implement changes and revisions as required.
- Prepare effective clash detection reports for the team to maintain order, schedule and quality.
Our ideal candidate has:
- Post-secondary training in electrical with 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of all electrical systems from both the design and installation perspectives including: Power distribution, fire safety systems, access control and CCTV, structured cabling, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk including AutoCAD, MEP, Revit
- Strong knowledge of Windows Office Suite: XP Professional, Word, Excel
- An understanding of the uses of drawing levels, references files, various CAD tools, scaling, dimensioning and cross-sectional interpolations
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with particular emphasis on project management
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives within a plan and strong attention to detail
- Excellent organization and time management skills
