Insights on the Future of Heavy Civil and Infrastructure
Insights on the Future of Heavy Civil and Infrastructure

This session will quickly assess some of our history, how we have gotten to where we are, and look at the dynamic changes that will impact the future of heavy civil and infrastructure. What is happening with our existing infrastructure and what can we do to be more resilient when faced with more severe and frequent climate events? How productive can we be when we are allowed to innovate and “break” the rules of the past? How will AI affect the design, construction, and operation of our infrastructure, and what impact will it have on the jobs we all have done? Where do we stand with BIM and Model-as-a-Legal document, and how will that evolve with AI and all the other sustainability and resilience requirements? Join this discussion to wrap up the conference but leave you expanding your thoughts on the art of the possible and how you will contribute to our infrastructure of the future.

The Use of Analytics Tools To Determine best Automated Vehicle Routing
The Use of Analytics Tools To Determine best Automated Vehicle Routing

AECOM has developed a process and digital tool to assess the deployment readiness of roadways for automated vehicles, which has been applied to over 8,000 miles across the United States, Canada, and Asia. This tool, named AV-Readi(TM), was used to assess two corridors in Detroit (Jefferson and Livernois Avenues) to understand the locations, type, and severity of challenges in deploying AVs. This process discretizes a proposed route into separate segments, which are defined by changes in the environment that are likely to require an ADS to evaluate a change in its behavior.

The tool has also been used to analyze roads before they were built. For a client in an urban environment in Asia, we analyzed new roads to see if they are well suited for supporting the use of automated buses to promote transit near airports. This presentation will walk through the tool/analysis and present the case studies of several uses of AV-Readi(TM).
