Dubai Route 2020 is a 12 km expansion of the Dubai Metro that will accommodate the millions of visitors expected to visit Dubai Expo 2020. The expansion will provide seven new stations, including an interchange station at Nakheel Harbour; three elevated stations that feed into the Discovery Gardens and Dubai Investments Park (DIP), with two underground stations; and the iconic station for Expo 2020. The design mainly focuses on extending the metro from Nakheel Harbour toward Expo 2020, as well as a future built-in design that will extend to Al Maktoum International Airport.
