Digital transformation requires the implication of all stakeholders of the AECO industry ecosystem. Because of this transformation, an expectations gap between owners’ and the project team could emerge. Adopting a clear vision that is well defined by the owner, which adapts to the industry pace, and which promotes collaboration, remains essential in this context of transformation which integrates innovative practices such as BIM and IDP. This is the method of choice for the SQI, a major public owner in Quebec, to undertake this digital transformation, and generate value throughout the life cycle of its facilities.
This presentation highlights the strategy adopted by the SQI for the integrated practices BIM-IDP deployment in its projects. It will outline the genesis of this approach, the steps followed, the processes and the efforts deployed to develop its BIM requirements both at the organizational level and at the project level. This presentation will also present a roadmap for deploying BIM-IDP in a structured and progressive manner. This deployment will be demonstrated through concrete examples, challenges encountered, and lessons learned.

As a graduated in architecture in 1998, Mr. Tremblay's professional career has always been guided by a constant search for practices improvment. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Tremblay has developed a unique expertise related to integrated BIM and IDP practices by working in various companies including specialized suppliers, engineering firms and architecture firms. This path led him to join the Société québécoise des infrastructures in 2010, where he hold the position of Director of the deployment of integrated BIM and IDP practices.
Mr. Tremblay is the instigator of the BIM deployment at the SQI and today he is in charge of a team of experts dedicated to the development and integration of collaborative approaches to the construction and management practices of public infrastructures. He is also in charge of the coordination committee for the Quebec government's Roadmap for BIM.

Architect and urban planner, Souha Tahrani holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nantes in France. She is a lecturer at the Ecole de Technologie Supérieure in Montreal and at the University of Montreal. Interested in innovation in construction, which includes BIM (Building Information Building) and integrated practices. Since 2010, she was involved in multiple industry-partnership research projects and has published many scientific papers and industrial reports on the adoption of these practices. She was responsible for the implementation of BIM at Ædifica Architecture, and has recently joined the SQI to contribute to the strategy of the deployment of the BIM-IDP integrated practices.
Souha Tahrani, architecte et urbaniste, titulaire d’un Ph.D. de l’Université de Nantes/France. Elle est actuellement chargée de cours à l’École de Technologies supérieure (ÉTS) et à l’Université de Montréal. Souha s'intéresse à l’innovation en construction telle que le BIM (Building Information Building), les pratiques intégrées. Depuis 2010, elle était Impliquée dans de multiples projets de recherche en partenariat avec l’industrie et a publié de nombreux articles scientifiques et rapports industriels sur l'adoption des nouvelles pratiques en construction. Elle était la responsable de l’implantation du BIM chez Ædifica architecture, et récemment elle s’est jointe à l’équipe de la SQI pour contribuer à la stratégie du déploiement des pratiques intégrées BIM-PCI.
