Digitizing the built environment is radically transforming the way we manage, operate, and maintain buildings and facilities. Harnessing the true power of building data and information can deliver millions of dollars’ worth of cost and efficiency savings, so how are different organizations doing it? Hear from Owners, Facility Managers, and Capital Planners about what BIM data is important and how to ask for it so you get what you expect, when you expect it.

For clients and contractors, the commissioning and turnover process can be stressful, expensive and long. This class will explore practical case studies and best practices on how the best in the industry are reducing the schedule for commissioning and transferring data to owners, and creating stronger relationships.
During this webinar we will also discuss delivery the value of BIM to wonders with a Digital Twin. Digital Twins are the latest buzzword in the AEC the industry and are simply the next step in the digital transformation of your business. This portion of the webinar will help you cut through the hype, understand the value of a Digital Twin, and what is required to create one. We’ll also discuss how Tandem can integrate with new and existing systems to connect the digital model to the operational and performance data of its physical counterpart unlocking the true value of a Digital Twin.
Digital transformation requires the implication of all stakeholders of the AECO industry ecosystem. Because of this transformation, an expectations gap between owners’ and the project team could emerge. Adopting a clear vision that is well defined by the owner, which adapts to the industry pace, and which promotes collaboration, remains essential in this context of transformation which integrates innovative practices such as BIM and IDP. This is the method of choice for the SQI, a major public owner in Quebec, to undertake this digital transformation, and generate value throughout the life cycle of its facilities.
This presentation highlights the strategy adopted by the SQI for the integrated practices BIM-IDP deployment in its projects. It will outline the genesis of this approach, the steps followed, the processes and the efforts deployed to develop its BIM requirements both at the organizational level and at the project level. This presentation will also present a roadmap for deploying BIM-IDP in a structured and progressive manner. This deployment will be demonstrated through concrete examples, challenges encountered, and lessons learned.
This presentation covers the following objectives:
When a project is being delivered what should owners be considering as part of the project handover? What is the record model? What does it look like and what does it need to contain? When should you be seeing the data? Should there be iterative points rather than all at the end or a consolidated dataset of the project? What type of Digital documentation for each asset should be provided and how do you eliminate disparate information that is not linked together?
Drawing on the recent experience of panel members, this discussion will address the burning questions around how to start transitioning to intelligent facilities. For example, how do you choose a pilot project? What information should be collected? How do you go from 2D to a full BIM handover? Learn from the lived experience of our panel members of how to be more successful in your BIM journey. The panel will Include major challenges and how they were overcome. Key information that was expected and was not collected and the need for an impartial expert who speaks for the Owner - why and who?
