This presentation will summarize Alberta Infrastructure's BIM and Digital Project Delivery initiatives that have taken place over the last two years. Topics to be covered include what has been accomplished to date, lessons learned, challenges, success stories and a preview of future initiatives. Specific topics to be covered include the Province's BIM requirements and consultant deliverables, procurement challenges and how they're being overcome, how digital project delivery is being addressed for smaller projects, the value of detailed asset information throughout the project lifecycle, and the importance of a fully digital handover.
This presentation will discuss Republic Architecture's adoption of BIM and provide our story of how it unfolded. I will briefly touch on the challenges we faced, how they were tackled, the benefits we have seen from it. From that discussion, I will discuss how we used BIM to develop the design of our new office, where we saw benefits, struggles we had with our consultants not using BIM, and how we continue to utilize the model post-construction. The content of the presentation will be oriented to appeal to firms which tackle smaller projects, to highlight the inherent benefits BIM provides regardless of the size of a project.
This presentation will show the design and fabrication process used during the installation of a bench design for a restaurant at the Forks Market in Winnipeg. We will be showing how we designed and fabricated this project in concert with a design-build team. The project was designed using adaptive components in Revit. We will also cover the lessons learned during the design and fabrication process.
The presentation will provide an insight into how PCL utilized technology and digital models to bring information from the office to the field. How they are assisted throughout the design process and collaborated with trades. The presentation will also show how the project team were able to utilize digital information to build the concrete structures from the model.
